Imran’s ‘Break…’ leaves Sharman looking for ‘Allah…’

Bollywood heartthrob Imran Khan starrer’Break Ke Baad’ has drawn more eyeballs than Sharman Joshi’s grungy avatar in ‘Allah Kay Banday’, industry insiders said.

‘Break Ke Baad’ has grossed Rs.16 crore during its first weekend in the domestic market, said the films’ publicist.

Industry insiders said that ‘Break Ke Baad’ opened with an average occupancy of 40 percent over the weekend, while ‘Allah Kay Banday received poor response and swung between 15-20 percent with almost negligible initial. Both the movies hit the screens Friday.

”Break Ke Baad’ has been good with close to 70 percent weekend occupancy. Youngsters are liking it… It is a very contemporary movie and they are associating with it,’ R.K. Mehrotra, manager, Delite Diamond, told IANS.

R.K. Mohan, an executive from Sathyam Cinemas, Chennai, added: ”Break Ke Baad’ is going well and the shows are going on in full swing. ‘Allah Kay Banday’, on the other hand is not doing that great.’

Co-produced by Kunal Kohli Productions and Reliance Big Pictures for Rs.18 crore, ‘Break Ke Baad’ released across 750 screens in India and recovered its production and marketing costs much before its release by selling satellite rights.

Directed by debutant Danish Aslam, the romantic comedy talks about modern day relationships and features Deepika Padukone in the female lead.

‘Allah Kay Banday’, on the other hand, is also made by first time director Faruk Kabir.

Produced by Ravi Walia on a budget of Rs.5.5 crore, it was distributed by PVR Pictures. It also stars Naseeruddin Shah and Kabir in the lead alongside Sharman.

”Break Ke Baad’ has been good, however, ‘Allah Kay Banday’ has done average business. Both have been Ok on the whole,’ Kaushik Gachha, operations associate, INOX cinemas, City Center, Kolkata, told IANS.

An executive from City Pulse multiplex, Ahmedabad, said: ”Break Ke Baad’ is doing good and the footfall is really impressive here with about 40 percent occupancy over the weekend. ‘Allah Kay Banday’ on the other hand is going cold and not that great.’

Alpana from Cinemax, Mumbai also said: ‘We have had an Okay Okay response for both the movies. If compared between the two, ‘Break Ke Baad’ is being appreciated more than ‘Allah Kay Banday’.’

'Spider-Man' Never Rehearsed in Full Before Debut

Troubled Broadway musical "Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark" encountered a last-minute problem on Saturday, November 27 when the production's only full rehearsal was canceled ahead of its first preview performance on Sunday, November 28.

The play, directed by Julie Taymor and featuring music by U2's Bono and The Edge, has suffered numerous setbacks in recent months as producers scrambled to solve a series of technical and safety issues and the launch date was recently pushed back until January 2011. But the show, which cost more than $65 million to stage, had its only complete run through scrapped this weekend - and will instead be performed in its entirety for the first time on Sunday, in front of reporters and 1,800 paying audience members, reports the New York Post.

Justin Timberlake Reportedly Starts Oscar Campaign

After getting success in musical career with boyband NSYNC, Justin Timberlake also wants to be recognized in acting. The singer who has spread his wings in Hollywood movie industry in the past few years reportedly eyes a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards for his role in critically acclaimed "The Social Network".

And in an effort to land the nod, Timberlake is said starting his own campaign and seeking advice from former Oscar winners Tom Hanks and Kevin Spacey. "Sony is footing the bill for advertising the awards campaign, but Justin is also doing things his own way, including attending Academy screenings on his own and privately reaching out to award winners and Academy darlings Tom Hanks and Kevin Spacey for campaigning advice," a source close to him tells New York Post.

"He's hell-bent on getting a nomination this year even though he has tough competition from his co-star Andrew Garfield," the source adds. While representatives for the 29-year-old singer/actor refuse to comment, another source affirms the news, saying "He's doing everything to support 'Social Network'."

To get Best Supporting Actor nom, Timberlake will not only face Garfield but also Geoffrey Rush ("The King's Speech") and Christian Bale ("The Fighter").

Timberlake portrays Napster founder Sean Parker in "The Social Network" which is directed by "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" helmer David Fincher. He is currently shooting "Now" with Amanda Seyfried.

Founder of the Royal Shakespeare Company Sir Peter Hall was also handed a special honor - the Golden Seagull award - for his contribution to world theatre. Nancy Carroll was honored with The Natasha Richardson Best Actress award for her role as Joan in Terence Rattigan's "After the Dance", and received the trophy from the late star's husband, Liam Neeson.

'Hobbit' to Be Filmed With EPIC Digital Cameras, Ian McKellen May Be Signing Up

Peter Jackson will team up with RED Digital Cinema to produce "The Hobbit" in 3-D. The company has announced on Sunday, November 28 that the director will use at least 30 of their soon to be released EPIC digital cameras to shoot two parts of "Hobbit" in 3-D.

The successor to RED's industry changing RED ONE, the EPIC is said a smaller, lighter camera that is an order of magnitude more powerful. Jackson has some words about the cameras, saying "I find the picture quality [of RED cameras] appealing and attractive, and with the Epic, Jim and his team have gone even further."

"It is a fantastic tool," he gushes, before detailing further "The Epic not only has cutting edge technology, incredible resolution and visual quality, but it is also a very practical tool for film makers. Many competing digital systems require the cameras to be tethered to large cumbersome VTR machines. The Epic gives us back the ability to be totally cable free, even when working in stereo."

As "The Hobbit" is close to its principal photography, Ian McKellen who previously threatened to leave the project if it did not happen soon reportedly is on board for the project. While there is still no official confirmation, the actor's official website has updated its "2010's Film" with "The Hobbit", hinting that he is set to reprise his "Lord of the Ring" trilogy role as Gandalf.

"The Hobbit" and "The Hobbit 2" is scheduled to start production in February 2011 in New Zealand. So far, the official cast members include Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage, Aidan Turner, Robert Kazinsky and Graham McTavish.

James Franco and Anne Hathaway Are 2011 Oscars Hosts

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is apparently trying to attract younger audience for the next Oscars. The organization announced on Monday, November 29 that James Franco and Anne Hathaway are tapped to host the 83rd annual Academy Awards to be held on February 27, 2011, continuing the double-act hosting technique that Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin did at the 2010 ceremony.

Some say this is a strange choice for neither of them are comedians. However, Oscars co-producer Don Mischer claimed, "They both have a great sense of humor and a great sense of comedy." In a statement, Mischer and producer Bruce Cohen also explained why they landed their choice on Franco and Hathaway, "James Franco and Anne Hathaway personify the next generation of Hollywood icons - fresh, exciting and multi-talented."

Franco's hosting assignment will mark his second appearance at the Oscar telecast while the upcoming ceremony will be Hathaway's fifth appearance. In 2009, the 28-year-old beauty joined host Hugh Jackman on stage to perform a comedic musical number.

Both Franco and Hathaway could be potentially nominated for awards themselves that night. The former has been touted as the contender in Best Actor category for his performance in "127 Hours", while the latter has been discussed as a long-shot Best Actress nominee for "Love and Other Drugs".

Avoiding Big Budget Flick, Ben Affleck Gave Up 'Superman'

Ben Affleck turned down the chance to direct the new "Superman" film because he didn't feel confident enough to take charge of an "epic effects movie". Christopher Nolan, the brains behind the rebooted "Batman" franchise, is bringing the Man of Steel back to the big screen in a new installment following Bryan Singer's 2006 offering "Superman Returns".

Nolan, who will act as a producer on the film, recently hired "Watchmen" moviemaker Zack Snyder to direct it, and Affleck has now revealed he was "tempted" by the job, but decided to leave the superhero movie to a director better acquainted with big budget blockbusters.

He tells Deadline.com, "The one benefit of having done all kinds of movies as an actor is, you learn the pros and cons of being tempted to do a really big movie because it costs a lot of money. With Superman, I think they're going to do a great version. Chris Nolan is brilliant and they've got a great director for it."

"I've love to do something like 'Blade Runner', but a lesson I've learned is to not look at movies based on budget, how much they'll spend on effects, or where they will shoot. Story is what's important. Also, there are a lot of guys ahead of me on the list to do epic effects movies."

Affleck previously donned the superhero's cape to play Superman actor George Reeves in 2006 film "Hollywoodland".

'Spider-Man' Musical Deemed 'Dull' and an 'Epic Flop'

Troubled Broadway musical "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" failed to win over theatre critics following its first preview performance on Sunday, November 28, after the production was marred by technical glitches.

The show, directed by Julie Taymor and featuring music by U2's Bono and The Edge, has finally crawled to the stage for preview performances after suffering numerous setbacks as producers scrambled to solve a series of technical and safety issues.

The musical, which has cost more than $65 million to stage, was performed for the first time at the Foxwoods Theatre on Sunday, in front of reporters and 1,800 paying audience members. And critics are already issuing harsh reviews ahead of the musical's official opening date next January, with one writer at the New York Post calling the production an "epic flop".

The reviewer wrote, "Not even Spider-Man could avert this disaster. Last night's opening preview of Broadway's most expensive production ever, 'Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark' was an epic flop as the $65 million show's high-tech gadgetry went completely awry amid a dull score and baffling script."

A New York Times critic detailed the night's technical glitches, adding, "The show stopped five times, mostly to fix technical problems, and Act I ended prematurely, with Spider-Man stuck dangling 10 feet above audience members."

A critic from the New York Daily News also claimed, "A fifth stop an hour into Act II caused some theatergoers to walk out," but was hesitant to write off the musical entirely, adding the audience "called it a surefire smash hit despite some kinks".

'Spider-Man' Reboot to Feature High-Tech Suit

The upcoming "Spider-Man" movie will not only feature a new depicter of Peter Parker but also new costume for the superhero. According to Showbiz Spy (via MovieWeb), Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man suit has a high-tech design and he has been going through a rigorous dress rehearsal.

"Andrew has been through numerous fittings for the suit which is a very high-tech design," an insider tells the site. The insider additionally reveals the skin-tight costume is designed carefully to ensure that it will not expose Garfield's crotch area, saying "One whole day was devoted to make sure there was nothing inappropriate showing in the crotch area of the suit. Andrew should be flattered that it took so long to get that part right!"

The untitled Spider-Man reboot is expected to kick off production in December for July 3, 2012 release date in the U.S. Emma Stone is cast as Gwen Stacy, the love interest of Peter Parker aka Spider-Man. Marc Webb will be directing the film, which is set to be made in 3-D.

Lady GaGa Got Anderson Cooper So Drunk in Interview

U.S. newsman Anderson Cooper will never forget interviewing Lady GaGa in London - because she got him so drunk on whisky he struggled to question her. The journalist jetted around the world to chat with the pop superstar on her Monster Ball tour, and got to socialite with the "Poker Face" hitmaker when she was off duty.

But he admits their personal chats hampered his professionalism - because she plied him with booze while he tried to quiz her on her life. Cooper tells The Insider, "I was really interested to meet Lady GaGa. She's obviously a fascinating person."

"We actually ended up (one) day in a pub in London drinking Jameson, which I don't really drink. So, she got me to drink like two of them, and by the end I was ready to have the interview be over because I really sort of couldn't ask any more questions."

'Star Wars Episode V' Director Died After Long Illness

Director Irvin Kershner has died at the age of 87. The American moviemaker, best known for directing "Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back", passed away at his home in Los Angeles after a long illness. The news was confirmed by his goddaughter Adriana Santini on Monday, November 29.

Kershner began his career teaching photography at the University of Southern California, before stepping behind the camera to work on a number of TV shows and small screen movie "Stakeout On Dope Street" in 1958. His film career took off in the 1960s and he went on to direct a number of movies including "A Fine Madness" with Sean Connery in 1966, "Up the Sandbox" starring Barbra Streisand in 1972 and "The Return of a Man Called Horse" with Richard Harris in 1976.

Demi Lovato's Happy Thanksgiving Video NOT Recorded in Rehab

Demi Lovato appears in a video message, looking happy and cheerful. The Disney star who is currently in rehab for "physical and emotional issues" said, "Just wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving. I'm very, very thankful for all of you and I appreciate all the support you guys give me."

Contrary to swirling rumor, the viral video was not sent by Demi from her rehab facility. A source close to the "Sonny with a Chance" star clarified the report, saying it was actually recorded prior to the holiday season and her entry into the treatment.

Thus, any claim suggesting Demi has come out of her seclusion is false. She still stays in rehab even during Thanksgiving. "She remains committed first and foremost to her treatment. Demi has made tremendous progress to date, but understands that she has more work to do. (Her parents will) be there to celebrate Thanksgiving with her," her rep said earlier this month.

Bosnian Rape Victims: Angelina Jolie Is No Longer Qualified as UNHCR Ambassador

Angelina Jolie's directorial debut has sparked fresh controversy among a group of Bosnian War rape victims who are calling for the "ignorant" actress to be stripped of her role as a United Nations goodwill ambassador. The Hollywood star has stepped behind the camera for the first time for the as-yet-untitled wartime love story, which is set in the region and was shot in Hungary and Bosnia in October and November.

The project encountered problems early on in its production when Bosnian government officials revoked her film permit following confusion over the plot, which was said to focus on a Muslim woman who falls in love with her Serbian rapist. The claims caused outrage among members of the Women Victims of War (WVW) association and Jolie offered to make amends by meeting with the campaign group to clear up the reporting mistake.

The actress invited WVW representatives to Hungary to sit down face-to-face and discuss their grievances, but the campaigners rejected the offer, insisting any meeting should take place in Bosnia, where the war crimes had been committed. Now WVW members have fired off a letter of complaint to the United Nations, insisting they are "deeply concerned" about Jolie's film.

In the letter, published on Monday, November 29, the campaigners write, "We have insisted to meet Angelina Jolie since we don't want to be wrongly presented in the world... Our voices are worthwhile and we should have got much more respect... Angelina made a big mistake. We feel that she did not act like a real UNHCR ambassador and we believe that she has no more credibility to remain the ambassador."

WVW boss Bakira Hasecic adds to the AFP, "We wanted to talk woman to woman. She should have asked after the victims, come (to Bosnia) before the shooting to hear our voice. As far as we are concerned a love story could not have existed in a camp. Such an interpretation is causing us mental suffering."

Robert Carlyle Lived in Hate After Portraying Adolf Hitler

Robert Carlyle cried when he was portraying Nazi leader Adolf Hitler - and got so involved in the role that he felt full of "hatred" and "bile" for months afterwards. The Scottish star played the German Fuhrer in 2003 movie "Hitler: The Rise of Evil", and wept on set because he was convinced his anti-Semitic rants were offending Jewish crew members.

And Carlyle admits the strain of playing Hitler stayed with him for "months" after the cameras stopped rolling. He says, "If you are spewing bile as Adolf Hitler it doesn't just stop when they say 'cut'. It's in your f**king mind, this stuff is rattling around, these words, this hatred, this bile, is in there, and you need to just sit and let it go. That one in particular took months to get rid of, I felt horrible."

"There was one really hard moment during the beer hall speeches, it was only after I'd done it that I realized how many Jewish people were in the crew, and that affected me. I was in tears and going round saying sorry and stuff. They would say, 'It's OK', but it was bad for me because I felt awful saying that stuff."

Rihanna Annoyed When Talking About Chris Brown

Rihanna hates talking about her bust-up with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown because she's convinced it makes her look "bitter, pitiful, spiteful and angry". The "Umbrella" hitmaker was left battered and bruised following an altercation with Brown in early 2009, while he was left with an assault conviction.

The violent dispute and the couple's subsequent split continues to make headlines whenever the Bajan beauty reveals more details, but Rihanna is adamant she would prefer to put the past behind her for good. And the pop star admits she only talks about it because interviewers always bring up the subject.

In a series of posts on her Twitter.com page, she writes, "People won't stop askin (about) it! It's f**kin (sic) annoying! Nobody wants to relive that, but some ppl (people) can't respect that! I get it, they wanna raise awareness to young girls! But it ends up just makin me look bitter, pitiful, spiteful and angry!"

Janet Jackson Recalls Tupac Shakur's Sweet Side

Janet Jackson still misses her late "Poetic Justice" co-star Tupac Shakur, insisting the "sweet" rapper wasn't always the tough guy he portrayed through his music. Jackson made her film debut alongside Shakur in the 1993 romance, and became close friends with the hardman hip-hop star, who was fatally shot in Las Vegas three years later.

And Jackson reveals she saw Shakur's softer side on set. She tells Britain's Sunday Telegraph, "Pac was just silly. He was completely different from what people knew. Not that it was an act, the person that the world knew, because that was him, too. I adored him - he liked to play and laugh."

"I remember when he said he was going back to L.A. to get a tattoo. And I said, 'Why are you going to L.A. We're not supposed to leave, we have a shoot tomorrow.' He looked at me and said, 'Square!' When he came back he showed me the tattoo he got on his stomach. He was sweet. Granted, there was another side, but he wouldn't snap or go crazy out of nowhere. There had to be something that triggered that. I miss him."

Julia Roberts Receives $1.5 Million for Appearing in Coffee Ad

Actress Julia Roberts has reasserted her Hollywood star status after banking a massive $1.5 million for a 45-second TV advertisement for Italian coffee makers Lavazza. The "Pretty Woman" star appears as artist Sandro Botticelli's Venus, the painter's stubborn goddess muse who refuses to reveal her famous smile until she is handed a cup of Lavazza's A Modo Mio coffee.

The heavenly promo, which didn't even require Roberts to speak, will be screened in Italy over the Christmas period. Roberts isn't the only Hollywood actor to sign up as the face of a top coffee brand - her "Ocean's Eleven" co-star George Clooney promotes Nespresso.

Early this year, Julia Roberts was rumored to have been paid $20 million for becoming the latest face of cosmetics giant Lancome. Serving as "ambassadress" for the beauty firm, she followed the footsteps of Isabella Rossellini and Juliette Binoche.

Olivia Wilde Screamed 'Like a Schoolgirl' After Talking to Obama

"House M.D." star Olivia Wilde had an embarrassing encounter with U.S. President Barack Obama when she screamed "like a schoolgirl" with excitement after speaking to him - and he heard her on his open phone line. The actress was on the set of the medical drama in 2007 when Obama called her during his election campaign to thank her for agreeing to help spread his message in Iowa.

She admits she was thrilled to speak to the Democrat candidate and managed to contain her joy until hanging up - but her excited yelps were heard by Obama because the line was still open. Wilde tells Britain's Live magazine, "My phone rang. A voice said, 'Olivia, this is Barack Obama.' His voice is very easy to recognize. He said, 'I just want to thank you for agreeing to go to Iowa to campaign,' and I said, 'I'd be honored. I can't wait - I'm very excited'."

"I was very professional the whole time we spoke, then I hung up the phone - or so I thought - and started squealing like a schoolgirl for about 15 seconds. Later my friend, who was with Barack because she worked on the campaign, said that he listened to the shrieking and laughed the entire time."

Lily Allen Sues Magazine Over Unauthorized Picture of Her Home

Pop singer Lily Allen has launched legal action against a British newspaper group for publishing unauthorized photographs of her new English country home. The "Smile" hitmaker's lawyers started proceedings against bosses of Associated Newspapers on Monday, November 29 after editors at the Daily Mail's website posted snaps in September, under the headline "Pregnant Lily spends 3 million pounds on stunning Cotswold home".

Allen, who suffered a miscarriage last month, is suing for invasion of privacy and claiming breach of copyright for the images used. A statement from her law firm Atkins Thomson reads, "We have today issued proceedings on behalf of Lily Allen against Associated Newspapers (Daily Mail's parent company) for copyright infringement and breach of confidence. This action is in relation to an article published in the Mail Online on 14 September 2010."

The lawsuit action comes just a day after Allen launched into a foul-mouthed rant on Twitter.com about a Mail on Sunday columnist who alleged the star was planning to marry her boyfriend Sam Cooper next year to help her overcome the loss of her baby.

Katrina Kaif: Catch Her In A Sizzling Hot Item Number ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ For The First Time!

Katrina Kaif might have been the hottest babe to land on Indian shores from across the sea, but she is one babe who has never delivered a hot item song on screen, at least not one as hot as ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ from Tees Maar Khan.
So what’s so special about ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’? Well for one, it is one of the hottest item numbers to have been recorded in recent times. Secondly it has Katrina Kaif in a new avatar with her flat abs, looking trimmer than ever. Then she has also exposed her flat abs like never before, the song has Kat draped in a satin bed sheet, in one of the shots in the song. This is something which she has never done before.
There are a whole lot of different costumes in which Kat is going to be seen in this item song, which is going to be a real visual treat for the audience. Katrina Kaif is one of those hot gals in Bollywood who is blessed with an innocent face, and thus her raunchy moves are certainly going to be quite different to watch on screen.
‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ is being seen as one of the highest USP’s of Tees Maar Khan and if Katrina was loved in her earlier flicks like Namaste London, Welcome, Singhh Is Kingg and De Dana Dan, where she was seen gyrating in wet sari with Akshay Kumar, then this forth coming flick is going to drive the nation crazy with her sexier than ever projection with her hot bod driving everyone into a frenzy, including her co- star in the film Akshay Kumar. Kat and Akshay have always been adored as the hottest couple on screen, so watch out for this one!

Sonali Bendre And Her Car Loss Trauma

Actress and television show host Sonali Bendre lost track of her car when she went to attend an event in the recent past. According to reports in the media, Sonali Bendre visited a hotel in Mumbai to attend an event when she lost sight of her car and her driver! What followed was a trauma for the actress and her aides who reportedly went on a search for the lost car, searching every nook and corner from the Marine Drive to the Churchgate area in Mumbai.

Media reports claim that Sonali Bendre first called her driver at the end of the event, but since his mobile network was unavailable, the actress herself decided to search for her car in the parking space of the hotel in Mumbai. However, the long search ended in futility. Neither the car nor the driver were to be seen anywhere, convincing the actress that her driver had stolen her car which was worth crores of rupees.

And just when Sonali Bendre returned to the hotel premises to call the police, then she sees standing on the hotel steps is her driver, completely unaware of the trauma his employer had to go through for the past couple of hours! Last heard, Sonali Bendre’s driver had dozed off inside the car, not realizing that his mobile phone was also switched off when he was busy enjoying his slumber.

The incident was indeed hilarious but we still do not know whether the Bollywood beauty had the spunk to laugh over it after fearing a car loss for more than an hour!

Now, the actor for the first time is offered a lead role by the 3 Idiots maker Vidhu Vinod Chopra. He has shown faith in Sharman and offered him to be the lead hero in his next project Ferrari Ki Sawari.

However, Tendulkar later cleared the air saying that he is not interested in acting in movies and want to concentrate on his game only.

Thus, recently he had posted on his page that he would be conducting an online workshop on the 3rd of December, little knowing that it would create a great problem for him, as he will be flooded with so many messages from several people who will want to join the free work shop.
Reportedly, the singer was over whelmed by the tremendous response and thus he posted back that since the response was so over whelming, he would not be able to conduct it on the 3rd, as the venue would have to be much bigger than he had anticipated.
However the singer has been offered help by professionals in the field like Wiz crafts and GIMA or the Global Indian Music Awards group in going ahead with his idea in an organized and professional manner.
So if you happen to be one of those who wish to participate, keep an eye for more on this news.

Artist of the Week: The Black Keys

The Black Keys tasted their first No. 1 single with "Tighten Up", the lead offering of their latest studio album "Brothers". The song blends a commanding sound of drumbeat and whistle-laden melody, arousing listeners' curiosity while staying true to the signature stripped sound of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney.

Coming from the production hands of acclaimed music maker Danger Mouse, "Tighten Up" ruled both Billboard Rock and Alternative Songs Charts. On top of that, its music video won Breakthrough Video at 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, beating Dan Black, Coldplay and Gorillaz.

Aside from getting help from Danger Mouse in "Tighten Up", they were mostly on their own when working on the remaining tracks of "Brothers". They crafted more intensely-focused, deeply-soulful set at the legendary Muscle Shoals studio in Alabama, and dropped it in May this year. It debuted at No. 3 on Billboard Hot 200 with 73,000 copies sold in its opening week, marking the band's highest charting album to date.

Looking back at their first years as record makers and performers, The Black Keys said "Brothers" mirrored their journey to success which has been both subtle and startling. "Dan and I grew up a lot as individuals and musicians prior to making this album. Our relationship was tested in many ways but at the end of the day, we're brothers, and I think these songs reflect that," Carney said.

Losing His Voice Due to Puberty, Justin Bieber Hires Usher's Vocal Coach

Justin Bieber reportedly is facing a problem with his voice now that he has reached puberty. The 16-year-old Canadian singer is allegedly working with "the same people who worked with Usher when his voice broke" to solve the issue.

"Justin is physically developing at a slower rate than most guys so his voice is only breaking now," a source said as quoted by News of the World. "He's working with the best in the business, a specialist called Jan Smith, to make sure he gets much vocal rest as humanly possible for a working pop star."

Justin Bieber himself has predicted his voice would crack due to puberty, but he didn't see it as a big deal. "Everyone's voice changes, puberty is a natural thing," he said earlier this year. "It cracks. Like every teenage boy, I'm dealing with it and I have the best vocal coach in the world and we're working on my voice and doing what I need to do."

He added, "It's not like as soon as you hit puberty you stop singing." Explaining one of the tricks he did to deal with the voice breaking, he shared, "Some of the notes I hit on 'Baby' I can't hit anymore. We have to lower the key when I sing live."

Helena Bonham Carter Laughs at Vanity Fair for Naming Her Best Dressed

Helena Bonham Carter burst into laughter when she learned she had been named as one of Vanity Fair magazine's best dressed celebrities - because editors lauded the British actress for the same outfits critics had previously savaged her for.

The "Alice in Wonderland" star'squirky sense of style frequently hits headlines for all the wrong reasons, so she was stunned when she discovered her wardrobe choices had earned her praise from the top fashion publication, placing her alongside Lady GaGa and Dior designer John Galliano.

She tells the New York Daily News, "It was a triumph! It made me laugh because I thought it was a joke when I found out. But when I saw the article, I thought, 'Oh, the photos they've chosen are as bad as the ones they print when I'm worst dressed."

But Bonham Carter, 44, insists she won't be changing her ways as she grows older: "I don't feel any pressure to dress well. When I was younger, I cared more what people say. When I did do the Oscar thing, I did feel quite a lot of pressure to dress a certain way."

Lily Allen Threatened by Journalist After Twitter Rant

Singer Lily Allen has toned down a foul-mouthed rant at a journalist on Twitter.com after the female columnist threatened to call in her lawyers. The "Smile" hitmaker branded British journalist Katie Nicholl a "lying c**t" in the astonishing outburst, after Nicholl wrote a report claiming Allen is planning to marry her partner Sam Cooper next year.

But within hours of posting the abusive message on Sunday, November 28, Allen took it to the microblogging website again to claim Nicholl had objected to the remarks and threatened legal action if they were not removed. Allen wrote that she would "amend" the comments - but still left her insults in the post.

She wrote, "Kati Nichol (sic) has been in touch and has threatened to consult her lawyer if i don't take that tweet down. She thinks it was too heavy handed. So i'll amend it. Katie Nicholl I THINK you're a c**t, leave me out of your sh**ty column, you know nothing about the intimate details of my life. There's a time and a place for your musings where i'm concerned, and it's not now."

Allen is currently recovering from the devastating loss of her baby after she suffered a miscarriage in October, six months into her pregnancy.

Rihanna Refuses to Show Her Vulnerable Side to Fans

R&B star Rihanna will never let fans see her cry in public because she refuses to show her vulnerable side when she's dealing with business. The "Umbrella" hitmaker has become known for her feisty and "aggressive" persona since bouncing back from her beating at the hands of ex-boyfriend Chris Brown in February 2009.

And the Bajan beauty insists on keeping her emotions under wraps while she's in the spotlight because she doesn't want to be seen as weak. She tells Interview magazine, "I do have a vulnerable side. I think a lot of people have a misperception of me. They only see the tough, defensive, aggressive side."

"But every woman is vulnerable... I just don't like people to see me cry - I don't like to let them know when I'm bothered. You know? I just prefer it to be all about business."

Russell Simmons: Burning Mosque in Oregon Is Wrong

Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons has condemned the deliberate burning of a mosque in Oregon after it was linked to an alleged terror suspect. The Def Jam co-founder was horrified after police in the U.S. state confirmed that the Salman Alfarisi Islamic Center in Corvallis was specifically targeted in the early hours of Sunday, November 28 morning.

One room of the facility was gutted during the blaze. The arson attack is thought to stem from the arrest on Friday of worshipper Mohamed Osman Mohamud, 19, who was held by police after allegedly plotting to detonate a bomb at a Christmas tree-lighting ceremony in nearby Portland.

Simmons admits he was saddened by the circumstances surrounding the fire, and he's taken to his Twitter.com page to condemn the mystery arsonist. In a post on the microblogging site, he writes, "The actions of one does not justify condemning all. Burning of the mosque in Oregon is wrong. Islamophobia is ugly."

Kim Kardashian Is Dead, Lying in Coffin for Charity Ad

Following Digital Life Sacrifice campaign which was launched earlier this week, Kim Kardashian lends her famous face for a promotional ad of Alicia Keys' initiative, Keep a Child Alive. The reality TV star is seen lying in a coffin with tagline "Kim Kardashian Is Dead".

"Kim sacrificed her digital life to give real life to millions of others affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India," it was further explained. "That means no more Facebook or Twitter until we buy her life back." To help raise money for this charity, fans can visit BuyLife.org or text "KIM" to 90999.

Leigh Blake, president and co-founder of Keep a Child Alive charity, said of the cause, "We're trying to sort of make the remark: Why do we care so much about the death of one celebrity as opposed to millions and millions of people dying in the place that we're all from?"

The other celebrities involved in this fund-raising effort include Jay Sean, Katie Holmes, Ryan Seacrest, Serena Williams, Usher, Willow Smith, Jaden Smith, Lady GaGa and Swizz Beatz.

Alicia Keys, Lady GaGa, Kim Kardashian and More to Quit Twitter for Charity

Alicia Keys has successfully urged her celebrity friends to quit Twitter and make it worthwhile at the same time. From Lady GaGa to Kim Kardashian, a number of stars have joined Keys' initiative to raise money for charity by quitting the microblogging site as well as Facebook for a period of time.

Called Digital Life Sacrifice, the campaign would see the entertainers ditching the digital world starting Wednesday, December 1 aka World AIDS day until they raise a million dollars for Keys' AIDS charity, Keep a Child Alive. In addition, they would also film "last tweet and testament" videos and appear in ads that show them lying in coffins to reflect what they mean by "digital deaths".

"It's really important and super-cool to use mediums that we naturally are on," Keys told The Associated Press. She added, "This is such a direct and instantly emotional way and a little sarcastic, you know, of a way to get people to pay attention."

She further revealed that all the celebrities whom she approached did not hesitate to say yes. They are Keys' husband Swizz Beatz, Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Hudson, Serena Williams, Elijah Wood, Usher, Khloe Kardashian, Janelle Monae and Ryan Seacrest.

Most of these stars have more than a million followers who could easily contribute a dollar each to fulfill the goal. GaGa in particular has more than 7.2 million followers on Twitter. "I have a feeling that GaGa is going to raise it all by herself," Leigh Blake, the president and co-founder of Keep a Child Alive said.

Johnny Depp has banned phones from his house in France to ensure his private time with his family is uninterrupted. The Hollywood actor shares a luxury home in the country with his partner Vanessa Paradis and their two children, and he makes sure they can relax during their stays there by cutting contact with the outside world.

He tells Britain's The Sun, "When I'm at our house in France I totally cut myself off from the rest of the world. I never have to listen to phones ringing and that's because - and Vanessa would confirm this - phones are banned from the house."

"We have a beautiful life and I feel that spending time in France has just calmed me down and made me stop worrying about things which aren't really important."

Annie Lennox: My Life Would Have Been Easier If I Was Gay

Twice-divorced singer Annie Lennox has branded men "a huge disappointment", insisting her life would have been "easier" if she was gay. The singer divorced her first husband, Radha Raman, in 1985 after a year-long union, and her second marriage to record producer Uri Fruchtman collapsed in 2000 after 12 years.

Lennox, 55, is currently single and fears she may never find lasting love - and she's convinced she would have more chance of a happy ending if she was a lesbian. She tells Britain's Saga magazine, "It's not like I think being gay could be an alternative, 'cos it isn't. I sometimes wish it would have been 'cos it would have made life easier..."

"I wouldn't want to disallow the possibility of falling in love again, but I think that for 90, maybe even 95 per cent, of women, men are a huge disappointment in relationship terms. (But) I'm not a man-hater, let me say that. I love men, love their company."

The "Livin' La Vida Loca" hitmaker 'came out' as a gay man in March after wrestling with his feelings for years, and he admits he was prepared for a difficult talk with his parents when he decided to come clean about his chosen lifestyle.

But he was surprised when his mum and dad revealed they were already aware of his homosexuality. Martin tells U.S. news show Access Hollywood, "(Mum) asked me, 'Baby, are you in love?' And I said, 'Yeah mum, I am in love.' And she asked me, 'Is it a man?' and I thought, 'Wow, this is gonna be easier than what I thought.' And I said, 'Yes mum, it's a man.' "

"I was extremely surprised and then she said, 'Come on, give me a hug. You're my son and I love you, and I will always be here for you.' So it was very beautiful. My father... he kinda told me. I wanted to tell him and he said, 'You don't have to say a word. I love you and I just want you to be happy.' "

Initially I was sceptical about doing in ‘Dil Toh…’: Emraan Hashmi

Emraan Hashmi, who is making his maiden foray into comedy with Madhur Bhandarkar’s directorial venture ‘Dil Toh Bachchan Hai Ji’, says he was initially sceptical about taking up the role.
‘I was initially sceptical about the film. But Madhur (Bhandarkar) has brought in a certain amount of realism even in this genre and that made the film very interesting. So then I was keen,’ Emraan told IANS.
In the film, which is slated to hit screens Jan 28, Emraan will be seen essaying the role of a flirt who mantra in life is women and money.
‘The character that I play in this film is not very different from my previous roles but the genre is different. Generally I have played intense, brooding characters, but in this film my character has grey shades with a humorous streak,’ said the 31-year-old.
Helmed by Bhandarkar, ‘Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji’, is the story of three men and their encounters with love. Apart from Emran, the cast includes Ajay Devgn, Omi Vaidya, Shruti Hassan, Shraddha Das and Shahzan Padamsee.
The tagline of the film says that men can never grow. When asked Emraan about his opinion on the same, he said: ‘This is an apt tagline for the film and I completely believe in it. I feel that men usually don’t grow up. Women are more matured. Even when men are 30-35, they are still immature.’
The actor is known for his roles in ‘Murder’, ‘Jannat’, ‘Gangster – A Love Story’ and ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai’.
Doesn’t his onscreen image ever bother him?
‘All actors have images. You have do the roles that are given to you and sometimes your onscreen image bleeds into your personal life and people start believing that you are that way in your real life as well. But I’m okay with that because roles are roles and people close to me know how I am in reality,’ said actor.
