Confirmed, Lindsay Lohan Replaced by Malin Akerman in Porn Star Biopic

Even a big name could not help Lindsay Lohan to secure her movie role. After the star is ordered to stay in a rehab facility until at least early 2011, filmmakers of "Inferno: A Linda Lovelace Story" have decided to let her go and hire another actress.

Lohan was supposed to portray porn star Linda Lovelace in the biopic. But since the start date is getting closer and she is still struggling with her legal problem, the filmmakers have cast Malin Akerman to replace Lohan.

"Lindsay had scheduling issues due to legal obligations and is continuing to focus on getting better in rehabilitation in Palm Springs, and she really had to focus on that in our opinion - and hers," producer Chris Hanley says as quoted by People. "For herself and her career in general it was really her decision to just focus on getting better psychologically."

On the "Watchmen" beauty who is now booked to portray the late "Deep Throat" star, Hanley gushes, "Malin was passionate to take this challenge of the role to task and we feel she has the talent to meet that challenge."

When Lohan was ordered to attend alcohol education program earlier this year, the filmmakers insisted on waiting for her and planned to resume production of the movie in mid November after she completed her court mandated stint. However, the 24-year-old beauty is now undergoing another court-ordered treatment for substance abuse problems and is expected to remain in the facility until January 3.

Additionally, a source tells Deadline Hollywood that Lohan is dropped because she is "impossible to insure and the producers loved Malin."
