The teasers have run since November last year, but Simon Cowell is yet to announce the celebrities who will join him in the judging panel of "The X Factor (US)". People magazine has now tossed in one more name into the bowl, saying Jessica Simpson is the "frontrunner".
"There [are] loads of conversations happening at the moment," a source said. "No one has been offered a judging role yet as new names keep coming forward who want the role, but there are some frontrunners and it's fair to say Jessica is one of them. She's very keen."
Jessica started her career as a singer before going for acting and then fashion designing. Her multi-talents are why she was chosen for this task. "She knows what she is talking about [and] is talented and likable," the source added. "But Simon's not in a rush to decide. The judges have to mentor on The X Factor - it's more than just turning up for a few hours a week to appear on TV."
The talent show is due to premiere this Fall. Simon had given his time on "American Idol" to concentrate on this project which has garnered popularity in U.K. "They have to get the decision right, which takes time. Those final decisions may not happen for a few weeks," the source added.
On another news, a rep for Cee-Lo has confirmed that the singer had never been offered a role on the show. "A meeting with Cee Lo did take place and the show was discussed, but he was never offered a role," said the rep. The Grammy-nominated singer is now an official judge ofNBC's "The Voice".
