John Mayer Shuts Down Twitter Account

John Mayer has decided to stay silent, at least on Twitter. The musician deleted his Twitter account on Monday, saying goodbye to his 3.7 million followers on the micro-blogging site.
Mayer’s Twitter retirement did not come without a warning, though, as the 32-year-old multiple-Grammy winner had tweeted three days ago a black and white photo of himself using a laptop with the caption: “Self Portrait of The Artist Three Days Before His Metaphoric Retirement.” The singer’s spokeswoman said the closing of the Twitter account was in line with the coming end of his Battle Studies Tour. The spokeswoman added that Mayer would soon be going back to work on new materials at his studio.
However, Mayer will not be completely cut off from the cyberworld as he still has his personal blog. Mayer had previously used the deleted Twitter account to promote his Battle Studies Tour when he invited students at the University of South Carolina to watch his free show back in February. It was also through the same Twitter account that he apologized after his now infamous Playboy interview.
